I’m very excited to share with you today… Whiter than White’s first ever styled shoot and a little announcement!
The shoot took place over Valentine’s weekend at the beautiful Sheldon Manor, set in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. The venue was holding an open weekend and I felt so honored to be asked to be part of it, coordinating and styling the ‘table for two’ for the event. For those of you who are not familiar with the venue, Sheldon Manor is a stunning 13th century manor house, which just so happens to have the oldest stone porch in Britain and the most beautiful tiny 15th century chapel set within the grounds. Surrounded by historic gardens, exquisite roses, tiered lawns and ancient stone structures, it really is simply the most magical setting. As most of you may well know, I married my boy there a couple of years ago so naturally have a soft spot for this enchanting venue!
The brief… The setting was within the stunning baronial style ‘Great Hall’ with its wood paneling, large stone fire place and a Bechstein grand piano! Now, I’m no fan of the traditional red and white valentine vibe and therefore opted for a dark, moody aesthetic with a touch of glamour thrown in for good measure!
A palette of deep jewel like tones, mixed with saturated fuchsia and raspberry shades was softened with hints of white and blush pink. The look was lifted with golden embellishments and the soft glow of candlelight, twinkling textiles and cut glass tableware were set against a backdrop of rich wood tones. A selection of brass candlesticks with pure white tapered candles added height and drama. Each of the place settings had rustic tin heart moulds, painted gold and filled with sweets and Rococo chocolate bars tied with golden metal hearts for after dinner treats! Ombre watercolour heart garlands were strewn across chair backs and used as coasters.
For the florals I took seasonal spring blooms including anemones, ranuculas, tulips, clematis, wax flowers and the odd rose for good measure. Dark, sultry blackberry toned peppercorns and painted black wood were mixed amongst the petals.
