Nicola and James chose a Great Gatsby wedding theme for their big day at Fanhams Hall in Ware, Hertfordshire. The couple met at University and dated for eight years before getting engaged on the snowy mountains when they were skiing.
When it came to her wedding dress, Nicola enlisted the help of Sian at Shimmering Ivory Bespoke Bridal Couture who transformed her dress design into the ‘real thing.’ ‘She matched my shoes to my dress by sewing some of the lace from my gown on the shoes,’ explains Nicola.
Herbet & Isles were responsible for the bouquets and table displays for the couple’s Great Gatsby wedding theme. ‘They were very simple and white, but utterly beautiful,’ says Nicola.
To tie in with their Great Gatsby wedding theme, Nicola and James placed a mask and glittery feather for each place setting. ‘The venue did the talking, so we only had simple white flowers in long vases,’ explains Nicola.’We added a print out that looked like a 1920s’s newspaper, it was about us and our journey through our nine and half years together.’ The table numbers represented each year we had been together, with photos of us as a couple in each frame.’
According to Nicola, the highlight of their day was ‘having everyone together on the dance floor having an absolute ball.’
Nicola and James’s Great Gatsby wedding theme was photographed by Julia & You Wedding Photography. ‘I found Julia in a few wedding magazines that I had got from fairs,’ said Nicola. ‘She and her assistant were amazing, keeping everything in order.’You hardly even noticed they were there, yet they produced some amazing photographs.
If Nicola could give one piece of advice to future brides, it would be to ‘stay calm and don’t stress.’ ‘Having everyone you love in one place with your husband will ensure your wedding is the most memorable day of your life.’
