Are you planning a wedding abroad? If you are in need of inspiration, take a look at Becca and Nick’s bright and colourful destination wedding in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The couple married on July 18th 2016 at Sponza Palace within the picturesque old town of Dubrovnik, followed by a boat cruise round to the reception venue, held at Hotel Dubrovnik Palace’s Vala Beach Club.
Becca and Nick met on their placement year from university. ‘I always joke that he stalked me,’ says Becca. ‘We were responsible for planning a team event when I received an email that wasn’t work related….’
The couple dated for eight years before they got engaged. Nick was planning to propose to Becca whilst they were on holiday with friends in Budapest, but froze around other tourists. ‘Luckily for him, we had another holiday planned a few months later in Dubai,’ says Becca. ‘He took me for lunch and gave me a present in the form of a ring. It wasn’t until a few hours later after me laughing at him that he hadn’t actually asked me to marry him that he proposed.’
Becca’s pretty Camellia dress from Suzanne Neville was perfect for her colourful destination wedding. It was the first wedding dress she tried on at Perfect Bridal Rooms in Aberdeen.
The reason why Becca and Nick chose Dubrovnik for their colourful destination wedding is because they fell in love with the old town after holidaying there the year before they got engaged. ‘We didn’t look anywhere else and contacted Dubrovnik Luxury Weddings,’ says Becca. ‘Maja, our wedding planner and the DLW team couldn’t have made our day any more perfect. We chose to have our ceremony at the Sponza Palace in the old town, which was perfect with simple yet beautiful floral arrangements and candle lanterns.’
Following the ceremony, Becca, Nick and their guests took a boat ride to their reception, held at Hotel Dubrovnik Palace’s Vala Beach Club. ‘Vala is located on a rocky peninsula,’ explains Becca. ‘On each table, we also had the book that Nick’s mother had read during the ceremony- ‘A Lovely Love Story by Edward Monkton.’ To light up the rocks after dark, the couple had lanterns, fairly lights and coloured lights.
According to Becca, the highlight of her day was ‘marrying my partner in crime with all our friends and family together on holiday!. ‘I wish we could do it all again and again,’ says Becca.
