You can’t help but be captivated by Alissa and Ben’s dramatic and romantically rustic wedding in Aberdeen, Scotland. The couple’s ceremony took place at Dunnottar Castle in Stonehaven and their reception took place at the Mercue Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen.
Alissa and Ben who met online, dated for three years before Ben proposed at sunset on a secluded beach on the small island of GiliMeno in Indonesia.
When it came to finding the perfect dress for her romantically rustic wedding, Alissa opted for a Blush by Hayley Paige gown which she found at Janene’s Bridal Boutique in Alameda, California. Her jewellery came from David’s Bridal.
The couple were helped by Emma Douglas at Timeless White to plan their stunning big day.
For her flowers, Alissa opted for blooms all rich in colour such as deep plum and purple. Jill Ritchie at Hays Flowers was the florist responsible for all the floral arrangements. The dark colours in Alissa’s bouquet were balanced out by touches of lavender and white roses. ‘Aside from the bouquets and buttonholes, all the flowers we had were simple, small centrepiece floral arrangements at the reception and a spray of flowers atop the arch of the Dunnottar Castle Smithy at our ceremony.’ explains Alissa.

How beautiful does Alissa look here? Her hair was by Kimberley Logie and make-up was by Julia Stronach with Platinum Pro Makeup.

I love the purple tones of the couple’s stationery.

Ben’s Pride of Scotland Tartan kilt and light grey tweed jacket came from McCall’s Ltd. Alissa’s bridesmaids all looked stunning in plum gowns from White By Vera Wang at David’s Bridal.
As Alissa and Ben are from the US, their romantically rustic wedding was a destination wedding. Many of their friends/family had never been outside of the States. ‘It was a dream come true to share a memorable trip with 40 of our favourite people and to give our loved ones cause to make the tip of a lifetime,’ says Alissa. They spent the week in Scotland enjoying activities such as a golf and whisky tasting for the men, and a Champagne tasting and spa day for the women.
Scotland plays a special part in Ben’s heart as Ben’s great, great, great grandfather was born in Aberdeenshire, in Peterhead. ‘Before booking our ceremony venue, we knew Ben had Scottish heritage,’ says Alissa. ‘However, we did not know that his great grandfather three times removed was from Aberdeenshire. It just so happened that the venue we chose was in that same area of Scotland.’ Ben’s mother was able to do a genealogy tour of Peterhead to learn about where her great, great grandfather was born.’
Alissa and Ben’s romantically rustic wedding was photographed by Craig & Eva Sanders Photography. ‘They were absolutely amazing, we could not have ever dreamed of more fun or professional people to work with,’ says Alissa.
I am sure you can’t wait to look at more photographs from the couple’s wedding.
