Instead of looking at the grey sogginess outside, grab yourself a drink and inject some colour back into your life with this gorgeous yurt wedding we’ve been lucky enough to blog. Dan and Daisy got married on a beautiful Saturday last August where the sun was a-shining, the drinks were a-flowing and the party atmosphere was out in full force. And even better, the styling was on top form. Sounds like our kind of day!
There was no overarching theme, but the couple wanted a relaxed colourful bohemian vibe to reflect them both, which really began to materialise when they found their venue, the Cheerful Chilli Barn in Otley! Daisy says this was the best part of planning, as it ticked all the boxes and meant they could really start to visualise their perfect day. They spent the whole day there, also utilising Yorkshire Yurts erected in the field for the all-important food area and for speeches. This allowed everything to be in one place (super relaxed) whilst allowing for a few different areas and incorporating beautiful scenery (mega fun!).
To decorate, Dan and Daisy’s wedding team did loads of DIY bits running up to the day to make it completely bespoke. Dan’s mother made all the bunting and a large hessian sign, and one of their bridesmaid’s handpainted an old pallet to sue as a welcome sign. The day before the wedding, a crack squad of friends and family helped make huge multi-coloured tissue paper pompoms to hang around the venue and the poles in the marquee.
A super stylish couple, Daisy’s ethereal vintage-esque dress was an Enzoani Bridal gown called Ginger, which she bought from the Harrogate Wedding Lounge, and Dan’s outfit was courtesy of Topman and Marks & Spencer, finished off with a scarf and matching socks from the uber cool Paul Smith. The bridesmaids were a riot of warm brights in floaty ASOS numbers and the groomsmen all wore their own favourite suits with a white shirt and braces. Daisy’s loose boho braid with her gorgeous gossamer floral crown and a strong red lip is such a beautiful relaxed bridal look. Also, check out her Henna’ed feet and embellished sandals – perfect for dancing. And excellent dancing music was a running theme of the day (more on that below…)
The day was an absolute riot of colour and an outpouring of love, with Daisy’s favourite moment being the bridesmaids setting off confetti cannons as they walked down the aisle to the the Darkness’s I Believe in a Thing Called Love. After seeing this wedding, how can you not?!
The excellent taste in music carried on throughout the day as a must, with the couple’s first dance being Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard.
We adore the photos of Dan and Daisy’s wedding as it looks so light, bright and colourful, with everyone having the best time. It oozes good vibes and good times, which is what they wanted. Looking back, Daisy says:
Our advice would be to add as much of your own personality as you can and to go with your gut! There is nothing I would change, as the day was perfect and I loved it so much I was actually inspired me to start up my own event floristry business.
