Guest blogger Adele is fully embracing the festivities (while maintaining a keen eye on wedding planning). We love the sound of a cheeky Christmas market trip to Croatia. Warning – if you’re not feeling Christmassy already, you will after reading this. Over to Adele…
“The Christmas countdown is officially on and it’s even more magical to say this will be my last Christmas as a ‘Miss’! Sadly Mark is offshore for this Christmas and New Year so we brought Christmas forward a week or two!
“And what else to get you in the festive spirit than a visit to a super cute, extravagant Christmas market. After a quick ‘Google’ search Croatia stole it for us and I can highly recommend it, definitely holds its reputation as one of the best Christmas markets in Europe. It is the epiphany of a winter wonderland! And a must if you are ever needing inspiration for a winter wedding! It was a Pinterest dream.
“Adorable wooden huts selling everything from homemade Christmas decorations to traditional sausages and donughts all found by a trail of fairy lights. Boiled wine, live music and bread and cheese in abundance. I’m very happy I sent my dress measurements before the trip! And we ended the beautiful weekend by a romantic (I very much doubt that as I couldn’t let go of the sides) moonlight skate on the outdoor ice-rink.
“December has also been oh so magical as my Bridesmaids finally have their stunning dresses. We were getting slightly close to the wire with less than 6 months for picking, fitting and making but I had faith I would find ones that everyone would feel comfortable wearing and fit the ‘sort of’ colour schemes in mind. Having 4 bridesmaids made it sightly harder to get them within budget so after another look on the high street I found the perfect ones and ordered them on a total whim!
“There was a quick link to the Bridesmaids what’s-app group but as the stock became low before my eyes I couldn’t waste anytime – and I don’t regret it as everyone loves them and they look perfect on!!! I am very lucky to have 3 such wonderful friends and great big sis! Now time to shop for shoes and accessories!
“We also ticked favours off the list this month (not ideal ordering Tequila with a hangover but this is one part of the wedding we have kept pretty traditional). You can’t go wrong with a shot to tie the knot and buying in bulk is extremely good value for money!
“The search for the wedding bands was maybe the easiest decision – not sure if it’s just because I love my jewellery!
“It was the first shop we went in, Mark and I slightly deer in a headlights situation, but the shop assistant was so patient and had us trying on everything. As she said, this is something to wear for life so it’s only natural that it’s a bit daunting.
“It was like my band and my engagement ring were meant to be together – I couldn’t be happier with them. Mark on the other hand has never wore any kind of bling in his life so to see him with a band on his wedding finger was slightly surreal. We felt like proper grown ups!”
Anyone else like the sound of bringing Christmas forward? Anything to extend the festivities we reckon. Alie x
Adele and Mark are planning a rustic, laid-back celebration that will be a true reflection of the two of them – think flowers, foliage, fairy lights, plus a BBQ and plenty of beer. They are getting married at Inchyra Byre in Perthshire next May.
