When the week starts with the new season of Game Of Thrones, you know it’s going to be a good one. But while we’re itching for Monday and the next instalment, we’re going to make the next two days count. But first, it’s Friday and we’re in love…
A new wedding venue for whisky lovers
We loved getting to check out an incredible new events space this week. With its fascinating backstory, uber-stylish contemporary interior and wonderful hospitality, we’re thinking that Lindores Abbey Distillery is going to be a huge hit.
Situated in Newburgh, Fife, and steeped in history (distilling was taking place on this site at least as early as 1494), the distillery has been created by converting and enlarging the old Abbey farm steading, which was built from original Abbey stone. The glass-fronted stillroom looks directly out over the Abbey grounds (these historic ruins are an incredible setting for an outdoor ceremony!). We also loved the Harry Potter-esque banqueting room, which would be a beautiful setting for a rehearsal dinner or intimate wedding (it can seat up to 60 guests).
The project has been a labour of love for owners Drew and Helen McKenzie-Smith, and they have a fantastic team on hand to welcome you. We’re sure you’ll join us in wishing them all the best as the stills fire up!
If you’re on the hunt for an incredible honeymoon destination and love mountains, hiking, spas and incredible food, then be sure to check out Grand Hotel Kempinski in the High Tatras.
We fell head over heels in love with this place when we visited, and can’t wait to go back. It would also be an amazing setting for a destination wedding, if you feel like cheating on Scotland with Slovakia. Just sayin’.
Remember Bauble-gate last Christmas, when the internet went a little bit crazy after Pickering’s colourful Gin Baubles sold out in just minutes?
This year the Pickering elves are getting to work extra early, to ensure that all the gin lovers get their treats for the tree. Head on over here to find out how to place your early bird order.
We heart Scotland
We’ve been loving all your recommendations for the best places to see for a visitor who has just 24 hours in Scotland. Head over to Facebook to join in the chat. And be sure to join our reader’s group while you’re there. The brides (and grooms) to be in there are rather lovely!
Where will the weekend take you? Christina x
