Our Wedding Day
Lily the Bride: Our wedding was the best party we could have imagined to celebrate 12 years together and to bring everyone together to be part of our next chapter as husband and wife. There was no real theme, just things we liked! The whole feel of the day was to be laid back and for everyone to feel relaxed and join in celebrating the day with us.
I decided to get ready at home as it was where I was most comfortable and I wanted to leave the house which I grew up in with my Dad by my side. We had an early morning appointment at the hairdressers where the whole team were in early and on hand with everything they could possible need to make sure all of us were wedding ready, I collected the fresh flowers which were used in my hair from a local florist round the corner which didn’t cost a lot.
I also decided to do my own make up taking advice from different make-up artists on the run up to the wedding and experimenting with different lotions and potions until I found the right look for me. I LOVED my dress and feel it fitted the feel of the day and the venue perfectly, it was a full train skirt but in very light weight fabric so very easy to wear and dance in (which was essential) I Also had a full veil which was stunning…however I completely forgot to put this on in the throes of getting into the car whilst still sipping my Champagne, this didn’t dampen my spirits as I was too excited.
As the venue was so beautiful I didn’t feel it needed to be overcomplicated with too much so I chose simple classic colours and kept this through the flowers and decorations. All the flowers were white but sat back with lots of Green Eucalyptus, to keep the feel of a more relaxed day I decided to have long exposed wooden banquet tables with hordes of Hydrangeas and foliage laid through the middle surrounded by masses of candles. To add some different heights through the room I also had a mix of blossom tress along the tables and hanging lanterns from the ceiling. All of which was a credit to Red Floral.
Food/Drink and Music was a top priority for us to make sure everyone was having as good of a time as we were! The alcohol did not stop and the food on point, making sure we had welsh lamb in honour of my welsh side of the family!
The band were superb they were an 8 piece band who added some real heart to the evening! Our first song was sung live and was Etta James – At Last.
One of the most important thing for me to was to make sure everyone was remembered in our day. And as neither of my Grandads were able to be there, I had pictures of both of them attached to my bouquet. It meant a lot to me to think both of them along with my dad were walking me down the aisle. There has to also be a huge credit to my mum, she was integral to helping me get all the little things done…and some of the big things!! like saving the day when at the last minute I was let down by the car booked to take me and my dad to the venue! After me trying for days she just sorted like a superwomen. She is a true diamond.
