This Week’s Loves

Hello June (er, how did that happen?!). This month we’re celebrating our sixth birthday (whoop!) so keep an eye out for a bumper month of inspiring real weddings, incredible shoots and stories, and fantastic competitions. But before we break open the fizz, here’s what we’re loving right now…

First up, we’d like to introduce you to the newest members of our Wedding Collection (aka Suppliers We Love!). We are always getting asked to recommend wedding celebrants and are so happy to have the fantastic folks at Fuze Ceremonies join us. If you’re looking for a highly personal Humanist ceremony, conducted by someone who feels like an old friend, then be sure to check them out.

We’re also stoked to welcome Rebecca Barnett Wedding Design into the WFIL family. Engaging the services of a wedding planner is a great solution for folks looking to concentrate on the fun bits of planning their day, and get a helping hand with the more time-consuming parts along the way (wedmin can feel like a full-time job at times!). Rebecca has been helping couples plan a stress-free wedding for over 10 years – she’d love to hear from you if that sounds like just what you need!

We’ve been crushing on her floral designs for quite some time now, and are very excited to introduce you to Isla Duncan Florist. After honing her skills in the bustling Borough Market and other London hot spots, Isla opened her first solo venture in North-East Scotland in 2011. She and her creative team have been specialising in weddings and events ever since, and love turning their couples’ visions into a floral reality.

“I knew I didn’t want a white dress. I tried on lots of dresses but found as a bigger girl most salons all pushed a corset top with a huge skirt and that just is not me. I wanted a dress that was a bit ‘Holywood glam’ and that I could dance all night in. This also was not where I wanted to splash the cash as I was not likely to wear it again (although I love it so much I think I will now!).”

Jill and Chris’ upbeat and thoughtful celebration of love made us smile lots! If you missed it first time, then you can see their quirky and personal Crear wedding here.

This week I’ve been mostly…

1. Getting my green fingers on and also taking a step into the world of air plants (I got mine at Elk & Wolf in Edinburgh if you’re on the hunt for some). Wish me luck!
2. Looking forward to seeing the Rolling Stones play at Murrayfield next weekend (it will be my mum’s first ever gig – what a way to start!).
3. Thinking that it’s time for a road trip, but to where…?
4. Listening to Graveyard’s new album, Peace (love at first listen).
5. Feeling giddy at the thought of sharing our next editorial shoot with you! Watch this space…

Hope your weekend is equal parts chilled and cocktail filled! Christina x
